If you encounter any of the following errors while installing or updating the core plugin:
- “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
- “Download failed: Not Found” (when updating the core plugin)
Don’t worry—this is a known scenario and can be resolved easily by following the steps below.
Scenario 1: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
This usually happens when WordPress cannot complete the plugin installation automatically from the theme’s activation prompt.
First Quick Check
Go to WP Dashboard → Plugins and check:
- If the core plugin is already installed but not active, simply activate it and the issue will be resolved.
- If the plugin is not installed at all, follow the manual installation steps below.
Scenario 2: “Download failed: Not Found” During Core Plugin Update
This error may appear when you try to update the core plugin from the Plugins page.
Why this happens
The core plugin is bundled with the theme, not hosted in the WordPress.org plugin repository.
Because of this, WordPress sometimes cannot fetch the update package automatically and shows the “Download failed: Not Found” message.
Solution
In this case, you’ll need to manually update the core plugin using the latest plugin zip included with the theme files.
Manual Installation / Update Steps (Recommended Fix)
Step 1: Locate the Core Plugin Zip File
The core plugin zip file is included with the theme package you downloaded.
You can find it here:
theme-folder → framework → tgm → plugins
The file name typically matches the theme name:
- NativeChurch theme → nativechurch-core.zip
- Gaea theme → gaea-core.zip
- Other themes → theme-name-core.zip
Step 2: Access the WordPress Dashboard
- Log in to your WordPress Dashboard
- Go to Plugins → Add New
Step 3: Upload the Core Plugin
- Click Upload Plugin (top of the page)
- Click Choose File and select the core plugin .zip file
- Click Install Now
💡 If WordPress asks to replace an existing plugin, confirm the replacement to complete the update.
Step 4: Activate the Plugin
Once installation is complete:
- Click Activate Plugin
Step 5: Verify the Installation
- Go to Plugins → Installed Plugins
- Ensure the core plugin is:
- Listed correctly
- Marked as Active
Important Tips
If you still face issues, please make sure that:
- You are logged in as an Administrator
- The theme is fully activated before installing or updating the core plugin
- There are no file or folder permission restrictions on your WordPress installation
- Your hosting environment allows plugin uploads and overwrites
Once completed, your core plugin should be successfully installed or updated and fully functional.
If the problem persists, please open a support ticket with your theme name and WordPress version for further assistance.
