Retagger

The Retagger integration uses the Reftagger API to automatically detect Bible references in your sermon content and turn them into interactive tooltips. When a visitor hovers over a scripture reference such as John 3:16, a popup appears displaying the full verse text in your chosen Bible translation.

Retagger Settings

Go to iSermons → Settings → Retagger to configure the following options:

  • Retagger Popup – Enable to activate Bible reference tooltips on sermon pages. Disable to turn the feature off entirely.
  • Bible Version – Choose the translation used for tooltip text. Available versions include: AMP, ASV, Darby, ESV, GW, HCSB, KJV, LEB, Message, NASB, NCV, NIV, NIRV, NKJV, NLT, Douay-Rheims, and YLT. Default is ESV.
  • Popup Style – Choose Light (white background) or Dark (dark background) for the tooltip popup box.

How It Works

When Retagger is enabled, Reftagger scans the visible text on your sermon pages and automatically detects any Bible passage references. It then wraps them in an interactive link — no manual tagging required. The tooltip popup loads the full passage text from the Reftagger API when hovered.

For best results, enter Bible passages in the Bible Passage field in the Sermon Media meta box using the standard full-name format, for example: John 3:16-18 or Romans 8:28. This ensures Reftagger correctly identifies and tags the reference.
