Sermons Import

The Sermons Import feature allows you to bulk-import sermons from a CSV file. This is ideal when migrating from another sermons plugin, importing a legacy archive, or adding a large number of sermons at once. Go to iSermons → Settings → Import Sermons to access the importer.

Preparing Your CSV File

Click the Download Sample CSV button to get a template with the correct column structure. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers, fill in your data, and export it as a .csv file.

Running an Import

  1. Drag your CSV file onto the upload area, or click to browse and select it. A preview of the first few rows will appear.
  2. Use the Field Mapping dropdowns to match each CSV column to the correct iSermons field (title, preacher, series, audio URL, date, etc.).
  3. Choose a Default Post Status: Publish, Draft, or Pending.
  4. Configure Duplicate Handling — the recommended setting is “Skip when Title + Date Preached matches” to avoid creating duplicates.
  5. Optionally enable Dry Run to preview results without actually creating any posts. This is highly recommended for a first run.
  6. Click Start Import. The process runs in the background in small batches and a detailed log is shown on completion.

Reverting an Import

After a successful import, a Last Import Run ID is displayed. If you need to undo the import, enter that Run ID in the Revert Import field and click Revert Import. This removes all sermons created in that specific import batch.

Important: Always create a full database backup before running a large import. Reverting an import removes the imported sermon posts but does not delete any taxonomy terms (categories, series, preachers, etc.) that were created during the import.
