Each prayer displayed on the prayer list includes an “I prayed for this” button. This allows visitors to express support for a prayer request without needing an account or login.
How the Pray Button Works
When a visitor clicks the button:
- The prayer count increases immediately
- The button updates visually to reflect the action
- The page does not reload (AJAX-based interaction)
Each visitor can pray once per prayer per browser session. This prevents repeated clicks from artificially increasing the count.
Visitor Experience
- No login is required
- No form is shown
- Clicking is instant
- The updated prayer count is visible immediately
If the visitor refreshes the page or navigates away, the button remains disabled for that prayer during the same session.
Notifications to Submitters
If enabled under:
Prayers → Settings → Notifications → Notify submitter on pray
…the person who submitted the prayer receives an email notification when someone prays for their request.
This notification:
- Uses the global email template
- Includes the prayer details
- Does not reveal who clicked the button
Why Session-Based Limits Are Used
Session-based limits help ensure:
- Fair prayer counts
- No login requirement
- No IP tracking
- No personal data storage
This keeps the experience privacy-friendly and lightweight.
